Contract total cost calculator
Contract cost breakdown

How to use the calculator
First, input the details of the broadband plan you are considering buying, or have entered into.
This includes:
- The monthly cost.
- The upfront cost, if any.
- The contract length.
- The start month.
- The month that mid-contract price rises apply, if there are any. Normally, price rises take effect at the beginning of April, and amount to around £3-£4 per year.
- Whether the mid-contract price rises vary by year. For example, depending on when you buy, some providers might waive the first price increase, and just implement one in year two of the contract.
- Whether there is a separate introductory discount on the plan. For example, some broadband providers offer three months of free broadband when you sign up. During these discount periods, there aren’t usually any price increases, so you may need to vary the mid-contract price rises by year if the tariff you’re looking at is like this.
Once you’ve filled in the first section, click calculate, and you will see a breakdown of your monthly cost over the course of the contract, including:
- The average monthly cost.
- The total contract cost.
- The average monthly cost in year one.
- The average monthly cost in year two.
- Exactly what you’ll pay, month-by-month.
